Kirk in the Hills (72 / 365)

Today I went to Kirk in the Hills to attend the April Detroit Presbytery meeting with other pastors and elders from Detroit Presbyterian Church USA congregations.

It was my first Presbytery meeting and I must admit, a big reason for volunteering to go to the April meeting was that it was being held at Kirk in the Hills – a beautiful Gothic church in Bloomfield Hills. I wanted to see what happened at the meeting, but I also really wanted to see the church building, which reminds me of the many churches I visited while in Spain… well, without all of the statues of saints and shrines to the Virgin Mary.

While the meeting, worship and dinner were interesting and allowed me to reunite with a former member of First Presbyterian, a fellow Alma alumnae, and the pastor from the church where I taught a high school NOOMA series.

I couldn’t pass up taking some photos of the building for the Photo365 Project.
